CIRA is the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), a non-profit organization that maintains the .ca database and sets the rules and procedures for .ca domain names. Registrars must be accredited by CIRA, for a fee, before they can offer .ca domains. Registrars must also pay registration fees for individual domains.
CIRA also works with registrars to manage .ca domains. When you register a .ca domain for the first time, CIRA creates a registrant account for you. Before your .ca domain registration can be processed, you must confirm your registrant account through CIRA. Then you can manage your domain.
