The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) automatically applies private registration to the following legal types:
- Canadian citizen
- Permanent resident
- Legal representative
- Aboriginal person
If you registered a .ca domain using one of these legal types, you can remove the privacy information through your account with CIRA.
All other legal types have public CIRA WHOIS information, but they can submit a privacy request form to CIRA during the first 31 days after the creation of a Registrant profile. Complete a privacy request form at whois.cira.ca/public. Other legal types can also request privacy for exceptional circumstances, such as in cases where the registrant contact may be in danger.
